James Jess Morrison

James Jess Morrison passed away in Fort Smith, Arkansas on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the age of 74 years.

James is the son of Jess Ralph Morrison and Flora Irene (Waters) Morrison, born on November 30, 1949 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where he was brought up and attended schools. He married Barbara Sue Ramsey in Holdenville on June 22, 1966. They lived in Vian for a number of years and in Holdenville, where they owned and operated Morrison Plumbing for many years. For the past two years, James had made his home in Sallisaw. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. Singing was one of his favorite things. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Holdenville. He loved his family. He will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Flora Morrison; his wife of fifty-five years, Barbara Morrison; his son, James Morrison, in 1979; two brothers, Richard Morrison and Gerald Morrison; and two sisters, Loretta Morrison and Barbara White.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Amy Morrison of Wetumka, and Luke and Deidra Morrison of Sallisaw; eleven grandchildren: T. J. Morrison, Mikayla Wells (Brenan), Hunter Morrison, Hannah Delozier (Gary), Micheal Morrison, Joshua Morrison, Nathan Russell (Sydney), Alea Lamb (Jason) Elijah Russell, Shiloh Grindele, and Jerry Grindele; six great-grandchildren and two on the way; one brother, Chris Morrison (Stacy) of Moore, and one sister, Jo Ann Bowling (Kevin) of Choteau; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 20th, 11:00 am at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel, and James was laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery with Rev. Luke Morrison and Rev. Stanley Dreyer officiating. Pallbearers were T. J. Morrison, Nathan Russell, Hunter Morrison, Gary Delozier, Micheal Morrison, Josh Morrison, and Stephen Mike Morphis. Elijah Russell served as honorary pallbearer. www. fisherfh.net
